How Sweet Scentiments Turns Candles Into Memorable Gifting Experiences

Before launching Sweet Scentiments, Erika spent much of her career creating guest experiences in hospitality, recreation, and wellness. Her background included time with Walt Disney World, Pinehurst Resort, ClubCorp, The Peabody Orlando, and spa operations throughout Florida. Across each of those roles, one lesson stayed with her:
people may forget the exact details of an experience, but they remember how that experience made them feel.
That philosophy became the foundation of Sweet Scentiments.
Sweet Scentiments is a handcrafted fragrance and gifting brand built around the idea that scent, story, and sentiment belong together. From candles and room sprays to soaps, wax melts, body care, and curated gift sets, Erika approaches each product with the same care she once brought to hospitality and guest services. The goal is not simply to sell a product. It is to create a moment.
“At the end of the day, we’re not simply in the candle business; we’re in the memory-making business,” Erika shared. “Every candle, soap, spray, and gift is handcrafted with care, but the real goal is creating moments people remember long after the package is opened.”
Bringing a Hospitality Mindset to Handmade Products
Sweet Scentiments grew from Erika’s belief that thoughtful details matter.

In hospitality, a great guest experience is rarely defined by one single thing. It is the welcome, the atmosphere, the presentation, the service, and the feeling of being cared for. Erika brought that same perspective into her candle and gifting business.
Over time, she realized customers were not only purchasing candles, soaps, or room sprays. They were purchasing comfort, appreciation, connection, and memories. A candle might become part of a self-care ritual. A room spray might help a vacation rental feel more welcoming. A gift set might become a client thank-you, a closing gift, a birthday surprise, or a small gesture of encouragement.
Rather than focusing only on individual products, Erika began thinking deeply about the full experience around them. How does the customer discover the brand? How does the product feel when it arrives? How does the packaging support the story? How does a gift feel when someone opens it? Erika's belief is that the product and the experience are inseparable.
Finding a Different Path in a Crowded Market
Like many small business owners, Erika initially felt pressure to move quickly on social media. She jumped into Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, feeling like she had to create viral content in order for her candles to be noticed. But in a saturated market, that approach did not feel like the right long-term path for her brand.
Instead of chasing trends, Erika began focusing more intentionally on the parts of the business that aligned with her strengths. She started investing more time into her website and learning search engine optimization (SEO) so she could build a stronger foundation for her brand over time.
That shift has helped Sweet Scentiments carve out a more specific position in the market. One example is the brand’s focus on client and hospitality gifts. Collections designed for businesses, real estate professionals, boutique hotels, vacation rental hosts, and anyone looking to create a more thoughtful gifting experience.
It's a natural fit for Erika’s background. Her experience in concierge-style service gives her a clear perspective on what makes a gift feel personal, polished, and memorable.
When Packaging Becomes Part of the Brand Experience
As Sweet Scentiments continued to grow, packaging became a bigger part of the conversation.

For a handcrafted candle or gift brand, packaging has to do more than protect the product. It has to support the customer’s first impression. This is especially important when the order is being sent as a gift.
“At some point, I realized I wasn’t shipping candles anymore,” Erika said. “I was shipping first impressions.”
That statement captures something many product-based businesses eventually discover. The package is often the first physical interaction a customer has with the brand. Before they smell the candle or use the room spray, they experience the box.
A broken candle, messy presentation, or poorly fitted shipping box can take away from the care that went into the product itself. On the other hand, thoughtful packaging can reinforce the brand’s value.
“This Is the Packaging We Need”
During her search for better shipping solutions, Erika came across Flush.
The reaction was immediate: “This is the packaging we need.”

For a brand built around handcrafted products and gifting, the right packaging had to check several boxes. It needed to protect her products during shipping yet feel clean and professional. And it needed to align with the brand’s desire to deliver products in a thoughtful, elevated way. When a Sweet Scentiments order arrives, the box is helping carry the brand’s promise before the product is even opened.
